Painting Contractor

A painting contractor has a job that consists of several different roles. Sometimes my new customers go by the assumption that my only job is to show up at your house and make sure that the exterior (or the interior) gets covered with paint. It is true that I will be applying paint to the house, but as a professional residential contractor, my job encompasses much more than just that. Here are a few of the tasks that I perform:

  • I will make sure that the surface (interior or exterior) to make sure it is ready to accept paint or primer.
  • I will offer advice on which type of paint might be best for your particular situation. To evaluate this, we would consider how paints compare in terms of durability, how much your budget will allow, the method to be used to apply the paint, and some other considerations. As a painting contractor, I have to be able to evaluate all of these factors.
  • You will receive a detailed written estimate from me. Be careful if a painter offers you an estimate that is only verbal, or if he gives you a written estimate that contains vague language or “ranges” of numbers instead of specific ones. Your estimate should always include all details including the entire cost and an estimate on when the job will be completed.
  • Choice of paint color is another area in which I can help. Of course, color choice is entirely up to you, but we can offer ideas based on years of experience. Once the colors have been chosen, I will place the order.
  • Related to the first item, just prior to painting I will make sure the surface is prepared. This always includes pressure washing (for an exterior project) to remove dirt and any loose paint that is flaking or chipping. That is followed by a primer coat to act as a sealant. For interior walls, preparation is just as important. We will strip off old wallpaper as needed, repair drywall holes or flaws, and then apply a primer coat. As your contractor, I am experienced in handling all of these matters.
  • Also, we need to make sure anything and everything in the room is protected and secured. This includes moving out (or completely covering) all furniture as well as covering the floor. We use an abundance of drop cloths to protect your valuable items.
  • After all that, the actual painting begins. I am the contractor you hired, and you may very well see me working with a roller or brush, in addition to supervising the crew.
  • When the painting is finished, we begin cleaning up. I see this part of the job as being just as important (perhaps more so) than the other steps. We leave behind nothing other than beautiful newly-painted walls, and we take away a great sense of pride. I want you to be completely happy with your choice of me as your contractor.

Think about trying to accomplish all of those points listed above on your own or with just the help of your spouse. Painting the interior walls of a house is challenging enough, but the exterior is much more so. Most people would not want to attempt that on their own. That’s why you hire a contractor. We have the experience and skills necessary to get the job done professionally and efficiently. We are also licensed and insured. We have done this many times, so take advantage of that and avoid the headache of trying to figure it all out on your own. Give us a call for a free estimate.
